Useful info
- Course payment - we will email you confirmation of your place once you have booked, and an invoice with payment details.
- Course venue - most courses take place at Bixley Manor unless otherwise indicated.
- Address - Bixley Manor, Kirby Rd, Norwich NR14 8SJ. It is about 5 minutes from County Hall.
- Directions - It’s very important that you come into the estate on the right drive. It is the one immediately on your right as you turn in to Kirby Road, there is a thatched lodge (South Lodge) to the right of the entrance and you drive through an open 5 bar gate. Ignore the 'Private, No Right of Way' sign and follow the narrow drive all the way round; when the drive opens up keep driving, you will see a big double garage on your left and a bungalow in front of you behind a hedge. Please park facing the field, against the fence on your right. We are just to the right of the garage.
- In an emergency - if you are lost or late or need to cancel at the last minute call the number on your joining instructions email.
- Mobile phone signal - there is mobile reception at the Manor.
- What to wear - if you are doing a practical course please dress according to the weather forecast and come prepared. It can get really chilly if you are standing around watching a demo. If you are going to be digging you need to wear boots with reinforced toe caps (Screwfix does great cheap 'dealer boots' - yes, that is what they are called). The garden maybe muddy so walking boots or wellies would be a good idea. Even if you are doing a classroom based course we may well go outside to look at plants or design features during the day, so come prepared. You will be able to eat your lunch inside (where the loos are too), so you may want to bring your shoes with you to wear in the classroom.
- What to bring - if you are doing a practical course please bring gardening gloves and a pair of secateurs (we recommend Felco No 2 if you need to buy some). We will provide all other tools. If you are doing a design course we will send you a list of what you need.
- Lunch - please bring a packed lunch with you. There is a microwave, so you can heat food up if you would like to. We will provide teas and coffee and homemade biscuits for breaks.
